You love your kids. And some days, you hear your parents come out of your mouth.
Maybe you're expecting and already wondering what kind of parent you'll be. Maybe you're deep in the early years. Maybe your kids are older and you're seeing patterns you swore you'd never repeat.
But underneath:
- You react faster and louder than you mean to, then carry the guilt for hours
- You're trying to be the calm, steady parent you never had, and it's exhausting
- You've lost track of who you were before you became someone's parent
- You and your partner keep having the same fight, and it sounds familiar
- You worry you're passing down the very things you're trying to heal
Why it shows up now
Parenting has a way of bringing your own childhood back to the surface. The way you were spoken to, comforted, or ignored becomes the default you reach for when you're tired, stretched thin, or triggered.
That isn't a sign you're failing. It's a sign the old patterns are still running in the background. And patterns you can see are patterns you can change.
Breaking the cycle doesn't mean being perfect
You don't need a perfect childhood or a perfect track record. Repair matters more than getting it right every time, and the work you do on yourself shows up in how you show up for them.
Who I work with
Moms and dads, expecting parents, and parents of kids of any age. People moving through pregnancy, the newborn haze, or the years after, who want to understand themselves well enough to parent on purpose instead of on autopilot.
Before private practice, I worked as a family therapist on an inpatient unit, so I've seen up close how patterns move through a family.
How we'll work together
We'll start by understanding where your patterns came from. Then we'll get practical about the parent and person you want to be.
- EMDR to help process the experiences that keep old patterns stuck
- ACT to make choices guided by your values instead of guilt or fear
- CBT and DBT skills for anxiety, overwhelm, and staying steady in the hard moments
I'm warm, but I'm also direct. I'll point out the patterns I notice, and I'll cheer you on as you change them.
If you have ADHD
Parenting with ADHD can mean running on fumes, masking at school pickup, and feeling like everyone else got the manual. I bring an ADHD-informed lens to our work, and I know ADHD personally. I treat ADHD but don't diagnose it.
What changes
Parents often tell me they want to:
- Pause before they react, and repair when they don't
- Stop carrying guilt for every hard moment
- Feel like themselves again, not just someone's mom or dad
- Get on the same team as their partner
- Give their kids the childhood they wish they'd had
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a new parent to work with you?
No. I work with expecting parents and parents of kids at any age. If you're noticing old family patterns showing up in how you parent, that's reason enough.
Is this parenting coaching or therapy for me?
It's therapy for you. We'll focus on your own patterns, history, and stress, because that's what shapes the hardest moments at home.
Do you take insurance?
I'm a private-pay practice. If you'd like to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill at my full rate. You can learn more on my Fees & Insurance page.
